Customer Service...don't read if you want to hear me bitch

Had a very good experience with customer service the other day and as we all know, no good experience goes unpunished.

My i-phone had the power button get stuck in the down position, while not rendering my phone useless it was a pain in the ass.  So I call in to verizon, go through the obligatory questions (did you turn it off? have you pressed the button? has the phone been run over by a tank?).  They really need a way to verify that you have not gone "full retard" so you can bypass all the trickery they use to find out if you are a 88 yr old woman with an i-phone.

Anyway, pass a few of the tests and I had the replacement on the way in under 20 min.  The dude on the phone was a bit chatty, but other than that it was on the way with little issue.  I received it in 3 days, backed up the phone and I am back in the land of being able to turn off my screen to save the battery.

Thank you Verizon and to Bob the friendly service rep that told me all about his fantasy football team while he was trying to get the warranty information from Apple.

  7. You can un-stick the button using Isopropyl alcohol and a Q-Tip. Dip the Q-Tip in the alcohol then gently work the tip around the button several times, might have to apply the alcohol a couple pf times, but the button will pop right up again and you are good to go. I have done this a couple of times to my iphone and to numerous other phones.
